Stories, thoughts and articles about what Jesus is doing in Penang Christian Centre.

What does Christ’s resurrection mean today?

"From that time Jesus began to show His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things ... and be killed, and be raised up on the third day" Matt. 16: 21

Jesus Christ is the only person in history who predicted how He would die and when He would rise from the grave – and fulfill it! After He rose, Jesus appeared to his disciples many times- up to 500 people at one time. He even ate in their presence and invited them to touch him.

Have you heard of anyone else who have ever done that?

That is why the resurrection of Jesus Christ is the most important event in human history. His disciples risked their lives to proclaim His resurrection. Some of them were tortured and killed. They could not be silenced or refuted- though their contemporaries could have refuted their claim- if He had actually remained in the grave.

Millions of transformed lives through the last 2 millennium prove beyond doubt that Christ is risen! Addicts have been set free. The hopeless have found hope. Broken lives and marriages have been restored. Our lives should be the most convincing proof of Christ’s resurrection and transforming power.

This is what makes the Christian faith unique. No other religious leader has ever broken the power of sin and death. At a time when malls are decorated with bunnies – let us share the real story.

    Jesus Did Not Give Up

'Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious, you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.'

    (I Peter 2:4, 5 NKJV)

Peter remembered Jesus, being rejected by men even though He was the Son of God. I am sure he remembered his own denial of Jesus. Inspite of this, Jesus did not give up. He could have because He was fully Human but He did not. Jesus had the power to do anything, including escaping the crucifixion but He did not. Instead, He chose to go through suffering and death, death on the cross for the sake of humanity. Because Jesus did not give up, you and I are saved from the penalty of sin and have received the righteousness, the righteousness of our Lord Jesus Christ.

As we approach Good Friday and Easter, we need to be reminded that He has chosen us to share this good news to those who do not know Him. There is much we can do if we will use the power He has given and realize He has called us as a special people to do His special work.

The Bible says: But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people but are not the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy (1 Peter 2:9-10).

The death and resurrection of Jesus is no ordinary news. It's THE ONLY GOOD NEWS that will change mankind. Will you, out of gratefulness to our Lord share this good news to your loved ones and friends?
